Fit for the Future: Leading a Modern Statistical Service is a programme which builds leadership capability, empowers individuals and creates the conditions for innovation in the use of data.

Description

Delivered over 6 days (in person) on the following dates:

  • Day 1:  Wednesday 25th October - Edinburgh (Victoria Quay) or Glasgow (Atlantic Quay)
  • Day 2:  Thursday 2nd November - Edinburgh (Victoria Quay) or Glasgow (Atlantic Quay)
  • Day 3:  Thursday 9th November - Glasgow (Atlantic Quay)
  • Day 4:  Thursday 16th November - Edinburgh (Victoria Quay)
  • Day 5:  Tuesday 28th November -  Edinburgh (Victoria Quay) or Glasgow (Atlantic Quay)
  • Day 6:  Wednesday 29th November - Edinburgh (Victoria Quay) or Glasgow (Atlantic Quay) 

Discussion themes will include:

  • Leadership and innovation
  • Data collection and acquisition
  • Putting your users at the centre
  • Open source tools and analysis
  • Innovation and delivering change
  • You have the power - leading at every level

What will you learn?

The programme will allow you to:

  • Develop intent-based leadership approaches
  • Develop and drive forward innovation in your team
  • Adopt technically innovative, data mature and user-design led approaches to producing and publishing analysis.
  • Build relationships with and influence senior colleagues.
  • Build and expand your peer network
  • Understand the vision for analytical services in the Scottish public sector

Eligibility

  • The programme is open to those working in the Scottish public sector organisation with responsibility for delivering analytical, statistical services or outputs.
  • The course is aimed at those who lead teams and are employed in grades B3 or C1 in Scottish Government, or bands 6, 7 or 8a in NHS Scotland, or equivalent in other organisations.
  • Your application for the programme should be supported by your line manager.  This is to ensure you are supported to commit time to take part in the programme.
